Olise Curler Secures First Away Win Of The Season For Palace

Much had been said of the Eagles form away from Selhurst Park this season but this was addressed at the London Stadium with an impressive victory after going behind to the Hammers.   TIME/ DATE/ VENUE 2pm 6th November 2022 London Stadium, London E20 2ST   RESULT West Ham United 1-2 Crystal Palace   PLAYER RATINGS 13 Vicente GUAITA 6.0 7 Nathaniel CLYNE 6.4 16 Joachim ANDERSEN 6.2 6 Marc GUEHI 6.4 3 Tyrick MITCHELL 6.5 15 Jeffrey SCHLUPP 6.8 28 Cheick DOUCOURE (4 Luka MILIVOJEVIC 77 mins) 6.8 (6.3) 10 Eberechi EZE 7.1 7 Michael OLISE 7.9 9 Jordan AYEW 7.0 11 Wilfried ZAHA 7.4 UNUSED SUBSTITUTES – 2 Joel WARD, 5 James TOMKINS, 14 Jean-Philippe MATETA, 19 Will HUGHES, 21 Sam JOHNSTONE, 23 Malcolm EBIOWEI, 41 Joe WHITWORTH, 44 Jairo RIEDEWALD   OPPOSITION LINE-UP 1 Lukasz FABIANSKI 6.8 24 Thilo KEHRER 6.4 15 Craig DAWSON 6.9 4 Kurt ZOUMA 6.0 3 Aaron CRESSWELL 6.3 28 Tomas SOUCEK (10 Manuel LANZINI 64 mins)_ 6.6 (5.9) 41 Declan RICE 6.2 20 Jared BOWEN 6.0 11 Lucas PAQUETA (8 Pablo FORNALS 90+2 mins) 7.3 (5.9) 22 Said BENRAHMA (12 Flynn DOWNES 64 mins) 7.1 (5.9) 7 Gianluca SCAMACCA (9 Michail ANTONIO 46 mins) 6.2 (5.8) UNSED SUBSTITUTES – 5 Vladimir COUFAL, 13 Alphonse AREOLA, 21 Angel OGBONNA, 27 Nayef AGUERD, 33 EMERSON   TEB VERDICT The Eagles served up a very good away performance which ensured the first three points from their travels this season. Collectively, and individually with Zaha, Eze and Olise all starring in a side that is exciting to watch when they are in the zone like this and they settled a few doubts particularly where the away form has been concerned. This was a deserved result and even when the hosts took the lead from an effort from distance, Palace already had the best chances in the game and deservedly went in level at the break. After surviving a penalty scare which the referee ruled out even after being told to take a look at the screen up stepped Michael Olise who cut inside and released his trademark curler with his left boot to send the away fans into raptures. Even after a difficult run of fixtures at the start of the season, a point or three at Forest next weekend sees Palace with 20+ heading into the World Cup break – a very satisfying total from 14 games.   POST GAME QUOTES PATRICK VIEIRA – “It was really tight. We had that chance with Michael at the end. It was deflected but we know in that position he’s dangerous when he opens himself up like that. The feeling is good – not just winning the game but the performance from the start. We played with a lot of discipline and quality and moved the ball around. We’re growing up as a team. We showed quality and resilience and managed to get back into the game and win it. The VAR is there to do a job. It went in our favour and the referee was brave enough to change his mind. We showed we have character and personality. We showed it again. Everyone wanted the ball, nobody was hiding. It would be good for us to take our chances.”   DAVID MOYES – “We didn’t play well enough. We couldn’t have expected much more. A draw wouldn’t have been wrong but Palace played better than we did. We got in front when we didn’t look like it in the game but then we let Palace into the game. It was terrible. Second one we looked more likely to score. No complaints with the result.   MATCH STATISTICS Star Man Michael OLISE (7.9) Goals Said BENRAHMA (20), Wilfried ZAHA (41), Michael OLISE (90+3) Assists Lucas PAQUETA (20), Eberechi EZE (41), Wilfried ZAHA (90+3) Most shots Eberechi EZE, Wilfried ZAHA (4) Most tackles Lucas PAQUETA (5) Most dribbles Cheick DOUCOURE, Michael OLISE (2) Team rating 6.35 – 6.73 Total shots 5 – 15 Shots on target 2 – 6 Yellow cards Craig Dawson (58), Jordan AYEW (88) Red cards None Possession 41.7% – 58.3% Pass success 81% – 87% Passes 401 – 574 Dribbles 2 – 6 Aerials won 12 – 10 Tackles 15 – 12 Fouls 10 – 7 Corners 2 – 5 Saves 5 – 1 Dispossessed 4 – 8   POSITION IN THE TABLE (at the final whistle) POS TEAM W D L GD PTS 8 Fulham 5 4 5 -1 19 9 Crystal Palace 5 4 4 -2 19 10 Liverpool 4 4 4 8 16   UPCOMING FIXTURES 09/11/22 Newcastle United (a) – League Cup (7.45pm) 12/11/22 Nottingham Forest (a) – Premier League (3pm) 26/12/22 Fulham (h) – Premier League (3pm) The post Olise Curler Secures First Away Win Of The Season For Palace appeared first on TheEaglesBeak.com.
