Erling Haaland breaks another Premier League record as Man City striker gets hat-trick against Manchester United and now has as many as Cristiano Rona

Erling Haaland continues to break Premier League records as he netted a hat-trick against Manchester United on Sunday. The striker wasted no time in asserting his dominance over Man City’s rivals in a quite brilliant Manchester derby display. Man United had no answer for the brilliance of HaalandGetty Haaland scored twice before half-time and then again after the break for his hat-trick as City won 6-3. It was the third home game in a row where the 21-year-old has scored a hat-trick for Man City – the first time anyone has ever done it. Haaland is the first City player to score a hat-trick versus United since Francis Lee in December 1970, and third overall (also Horace Barnes in Oct 1921). Phil Foden then joined him during the game as he himself netted three times. Man City are also just the third side in Premier League history to have two players score hat-tricks in a single game after Arsenal vs Southampton (2003) and Leicester vs Southampton (2019). Haaland has now matched the total number of Premier League hat-tricks that Cristiano Ronaldo has (3)… having played just eight games.
