Trevoh Chalobah in new role as Chelsea trio, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, get opportunity to impress Graham Potter during international break

Trevoh Chalobah was among the senior Chelsea players given an opportunity to impress new manager Graham Potter during the international break. Potter has made a quiet start to life as Blues boss after two postponed Premier League matches were quickly followed by an international break. But despite being in the hot seat for 19 days, that has been Potter’s only competitive game so far. With the vast majority of his squad on international duty, the Englishman has not even been able to implement a normal training regime. However, an unconventional month might have proved beneficial for the Chelsea players who were not called up by their countries. The Blues released images of training at Cobham on Monday and it featured Chalobah, new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, along with a number of academy players. Despite breaking into the first team under Thomas Tuchel, Chalobah recently fell out of favour despite obvious holes in the Chelsea defence. Meanwhile, Aubameyang failed to impress during Potter’s opening game, and many believe signing the ex-Arsenal striker from Barcelona was Tuchel’s idea. His presence at the training ground may provide an edge over Kai Havertz, who netted twice for Germany in their 3-3 draw with England on Monday. Loftus-Cheek, who has been forced to settle for a bit-part role at Chelsea in recent years, will also be grateful for the opportunity to make an impression.
