Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been dealt a massive blow with the news that Amad Diallo will be out of action “for some time” after suffering an ankle injury.
The Ivory Coast international has been one of the standout performers for the Red Devils since Amorim took charge at Old Trafford and he is their leading scorer in the Premier League this season.
Diallo has bagged six goals in the league, five of those coming under Amorim, including a match-winning hat-trick against Southampton on January 16, while he’s also registered six assists.
However, the 22-year-old winger picked up the injury in training on Friday ahead of United’s crucial top-flight clash at Tottenham on Sunday and is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
“Extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season. Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury,” Diallo posted on his social media accounts.
“I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”
Diallo could also miss the Elephants’ 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Gambia in March as Emerse Fae’s side look to firm their grip on top spot in Group F, where they lead Gabon by one point after four matches.
