Obi Mikel pressing 'his buttons' to see if Osimhen joins Chelsea

Ex-Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel is determined to ensure that his countryman Victor Osimhen joins his former club, Chelsea FC.

The world-class striker was linked with a move to the English Premier League giants at the end of last term, but he instead joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from SSC Napoli.

Osimhen has netted 19 goals and provided five assists in 24 games across all competitions for Galatasaray and Mikel would love to see the 25-year-old player join the Blues.

"It's always good to see these guys and see how they're getting on,” Mikel said on Soccer Net.

The 37-year-old retired midfielder stayed with Chelsea for 11 years where he won multiple titles, including two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the 2011–12 Champions League.

“Of course, Victor has moved to Galatasaray, and he's banging in goals, doing what he knows how to do best,” Mikel continued.

“So, it's nice to see how he's settling him, and I'm still trying to get him to try to come to the club. I'm trying to press my buttons and see if we can get things done, hopefully, we never know.”

Osimhen reportedly has a release clause in the upcoming transfer window of around €75 million, and Napoli is expected to sell the player.
