Arsenal are reportedly preparing an offer to sign Manchester United target Moussa Diaby.

The Gunners have been linked with the Bayer Leverkusen winger who has been labelled a ‘perfect‘ addition by Mikel Arteta this week.

However, Arsenal have major competition in the form of Manchester United who, according to But! Football Club, are also interested in the French attacker.

The report has added that the North Londoners have an ‘offensive in the pipeline’ and that the player – well liked by Mikel Arteta – carries with him a value of around £59 million.

The Emirates Stadium outfit have spent more than 18 other Premier League outfits this summer, with only Chelsea investing a higher amount.

So far, Arsenal have spent roughly £120 million across five players and a deal for Diaby is likely to take their expenditure well above the £160 million mark.

But as mentioned, Manchester United represent a genuine threat.

There’s no doubt that the Gunners have enjoyed a better summer than the Red Devils on the recruitment front but, even still, this is an enormous club on a global level and despite suffering a opening-weekend defeat at home to Brighton, Erik ten Hag’s side will undeniably improve.

The 23-year-old began his senior career with Paris Saint-Germain but left in 2019, en route to making a name for himself away from the Ligue 1 champions.
