“Going to be a scrappy game” – Wigan Athletic fan pundit gives score prediction ahead of Bristol City clash

This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk‘ series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more… Following their promotion to the Championship last season, Wigan Athletic have had a slow start to life in the second tier.  A 0-0 draw against Preston and 1-1 draw against Norwich City haven’t been bad results for the side. However, a 1-0 EFL Cup defeat against Fleetwood Town mid-week was a disappointing result for the Latics and they will be hoping to bounce back from this. This weekend, Wigan host Bristol City who, based on league form, should be a game that Wigan look to take advantage of with the Robins having lost both of their league games so far. However, a 4-1 win against Coventry City in the EFL Cup may put Bristol City in better form coming into the game. With that in mind, we asked FLW’s Wigan Athletic fan pundit Adam Pendlebury for his score prediction this weekend: “So, prediction for Wigan Athletic vs Bristol City at the DW Stadium. “Neither side has won in the league as yet so I think it’s going to be a scrappy game. “That said, Wigan must take confidence from the excellent point taken at Carrow Road last Saturday. “A couple of players should be returning from injury so I think that given the rather poor start that Bristol City have made to the league season, I am going to go for a Wigan Athletic win by two goals to one with the scorers, Will Keane and Callum Lang.” The Verdict:  Neither Wigan or Bristol City have had a particularly inspiring start to this season so as Adam said, a scrappy game could be on the cards here. Wigan have done better in the league so far and getting a point against newly relegated Norwich City was a great result. However, Bristol City now come into this game after a high scoring win and will no doubt be feeling more confident after that. Therefore, this feels like a game that could go either way depending on how each side decide to show up on the day. Source
