Williams arrives from Oldham

Burnley have today signed defender Jesse Williams from National League club Oldham Athletic and he will initially join the under-21 squad having signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Williams was the trialist who played in the centre of defence in the win at Bristol City two weeks ago and the 18-year-old said today: "I'm very happy to be here at this great club and am grateful for the opportunity.

"Having spent time on trial, I can tell the environment is good and all the players, coaches and staff have a good bond. All the lads have been great with me and made me feel very welcome.

"I like to try and be calm and composed on the ball, step out of the defence and play it when possible."

He was born in the Netherlands but moved to England and played for Enfield Town before joining Oldham as an under-11 player.

We wish him the very best at Burnley.
