John Obi Mikel has claimed the pressure should always be on the owners and warned you never know what could happen if fan frustration continues.

Having started the season so well the Blues are now in the midst of a dire run of form, with Friday's defeat to Brighton meaning they have won just two of their last nine league matches.

Chelsea dropped to sixth after Manchester City and Bournemouth both won over the weekend, although they are still just one point outside the top four.

The pressure has no doubt increased on Enzo Maresca following the poor run of form, and ultimately the responsibility falls on his shoulders to find the right solutions and return Chelsea to winning ways.

Gary Neville believes the pressure should be on those above the manager, but if the Blues fails to qualify for the Champions League it will be interesting to see what happens to Maresca.

It's claimed that Chelsea are happy with the job Maresca is doing and there's sympathy for the current injury situation.

However, fan frustration is building and supporters are becoming increasingly frustrated with the club's ownership, and feel the club isn't being run in the right way.

Mikel, who isn't shy of sharing his opinion believes the owners should always be under pressure and warned you have to win trophies at Chelsea.

"The pressure should always be on the owners," he told his Obi One Podcast.

"It's about winning trophies. If you buy Chelsea Football Club and think you are only here to make profit, you can f*** off.

"The more the fans get frustrated, you never know what could happen."

Supporters have planned a protest before the game against Southampton on February 25th to voice discontent against the ownership, and if things don't improve on the pitch it could be a very difficult end to the season.
