Video: Player Everton & Newcastle could have signed scores 1 min into debut for new club

Everton and Newcastle United summer transfer target, Aaron Ramsey, scored one minute into his debut for OGC Nice on Sunday.

The 31-year-old was a free transfer this summer when he ripped up his contract at Juventus, after he had a spell to forget in Turin.

When Ramsey became available, there were a number of Premier League teams keen to add him to their ranks, including Everton and Newcastle United.

The Wales international, who is set to go to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in November, opted to head to France and sign on the dotted line for Nice, rather than make a return to the Premier League.

Ramsey joins his fellow countryman in France, with Tottenham Hotspur defender, Joe Rodon, securing a loan move to Rennes this summer also.

Nonetheless, Ramsey came off the bench for his new side to score a brilliant first-time finish into the top corner, as Nice recorded a 1-1 draw at Toulouse for their Ligue 1 opener, as you can watch below.

CAN RAMSEY TURN HIS CAREER AROUND IN FRANCE?

When Ramsey was in Arsenal colours, the attack-minded midfielder showed a lot of promise under Arsene Wenger’s stewardship.

His golden spell at the Emirates came during the 2013/14 Premier League season when he scored ten goals and supplied nine assists from 23 league matches.

But during that campaign, and like many occasions in north London, injuries hurt him hard, it didn’t allow him to settle and disrupted his progression.

In 2019, he decided to join Juventus when his contract expired at Arsenal, but he spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch, and during those three years, he didn’t even hit 50 appearances.

In Turin, the Serie A giants were packed with talent, so even when Ramsey was fit, he still wasn’t earning the minutes, but he will do at Nice and it’s an ample chance for him to turn his career around.
