Ex-Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock has dropped into the National League with Notts County. The experienced performer has penned an 18-month contract with the Magpies, with Brennan Johnson and Benik Afobe reacting on Instagram. The maestro joined Forest on loan ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. He made just nine appearances under Sabri Lamouchi, with many supporters believing he was vastly underused. Bostock joined Doncaster after leaving Forest. He signed for Rovers on a free transfer and made 43 appearances before being released on a free transfer at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. Bostock was even training with Forest for a short period and played in a friendly for the under-23s earlier in the season. Signing back with the Reds was never in question, however. Now, Bostock has signed for Forest's city rivals and he will hope to help the club get over the line in the quest to return to the EFL. This looks like a coup from a County perspective. Bostock is only 30-years-old and his ability should have seen him command a move to another club in the Football League in the summer. For whatever reason, that didn't transpire though. Bostock has been forced to wait patiently for a chance and now Luke Williams at Notts County has handed him the chance to continue his career. Bostock has dropped into the National League; Johnson and Afobe react Following his decision to move to Meadow Lane, the midfielder has been inundated with messages from ex-teammates on Instagram. Johnson messaged Bostock with one word, saying: Yessir!' to the man he played alongside at Forest on a couple of occasions. As for Afobe, he put something a little bit more substantial to the former Tottenham performer. (Photo; Jon Hobley; MI News; NurPhoto; Getty Images) He said: Pleased for you! Congrats and enjoy it my brother. Bostock has a brilliant opportunity at Notts. They're top of the National League and on an 18-month deal, he could have another crack at the EFL. Notts are finely poised to win the league. Bostock could be the experienced head they need to finally get over the line and back where they belong this season.
