Reading fans tell Nottingham Forest what they can expect from Tyler Bindon as transfer is announced
03/02/2025 22:15
Nottingham Forest have announced their first signing of transfer deadline day, completing a deal for New Zealand international defender, Tyler Bindon.
Forest were linked with Bindon on the morning of deadline day, with the Reading starlet attracting the attention of Evangelos Marinakis due to his wealth of experience at only 20 years old.
Bindon has earned 13 caps for New Zealand, lining up alongside Chris Wood on the international stage, alongside making 75 appearances for Reading where he has even captained the side on occasion.
The move therefore was a no-brainer for Forest, who may need long-term cover at centre-back with Liverpool interested in Murillo.
They will be big shoes to fill for Bindon in the Forest squad, but supporters should be excited about the signing of Bindon given what Reading fans are saying about the young defender.

Reading fans rave about new Nottingham Forest man Tyler Bindon
As part of the deal, Bindon will spend the remainder of the 24/25 campaign back on loan at Reading, much to the relief of their fans given how highly they rate the new Forest man in the replies to the deal on social media.
One Reading fan said: “He's is some player, if he reaches his full potential no doubt he will be your starting centre-back for years to come.” With another adding: “Look after him, he has potential to be a star.”
Another Reading fan said: “You've got yourself a gem. Starting 70 out of 74 games for us, he always put in 100%. Look after him, give him time. Deserves a chance at prem football in a couple of seasons.”
One fan summed up Bindon in a very promising way for Forest, saying: “Great player, massive potential and most importantly, not an ego in the changing room. Happy for the lad!”
Tyler Bindon shares statistical similarities with Nottingham Forest’s Murillo
Given his international pedigree at just 20, the Forest coaching staff should have plenty to work with when Bindon arrives at Wilford Lane, with similarities already apparent with Murillo.
Statistic | Tyler Bindon | Murillo |
Dribble success | 77.8% | 83.3% |
Pass accuracy | 81.9% | 79.3% |
Accurate long balls per 90 | 3.31 | 3.28 |
Dispossessed per 90 | 0.11 | 0.35 |
Tackles won % | 73.1% | 71.1% |
Bindon and Murillo share equally impressive dribbling statistics from centre-back, whilst the New Zealand international actually outperforms Murillo in pass accuracy.
The pair both play three accurate long balls per 90 minutes and are equally rarely dispossessed on the ball when playing out from the back.
Bindon slightly excels in percentage tackles won over Murillo as well. Albeit in a lesser league, Bindon is showing early in his career that he has the attributes to excel in a system that benefits centre-backs with strong ability in possession.
Forest have set a world-record price tag on Murillo should he leave the City Ground, with his long-term replacement potentially already picked up by Marinakis in Bindon.
