£28m Aston Villa man who Leeds want to sign uses one word to describe Elland Road
Ollie Watkins has been speaking to the media ahead of the Premier League clash between Aston Villa and Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday.
Ollie Watkins previews Leeds vs Aston Villa
Interestingly, the England international only had one work to describe the home of Leeds – hostile.
As quoted by Aston Villa’s official website, Watkins said: “It’s always hostile going to Elland Road, but whenever we’ve gone there we’ve done really well. They’re in a good bit of form so it will be a difficult game.”
Hostile is definitely one way to put it.
It will have been more than a month since Leeds fans last watched their beloved Whites play at Elland Road, with the last Premier League clash in Yorkshire coming in the 1-1 draw against Everton on August 30th.
Therefore, Elland Road may be even more raucous than usual as supporters flock to support their side for the first time in weeks, following a series of postponements due to the death of Queen Elizabeth and the international break.
Leeds will hope to avoid Aston Villa repeat
Last time the Villans travelled to Elland Road, Steven Gerrard watched his side run riot as Aston Villa recorded a 3-0 win in Yorkshire, on what was a truly miserable day for Leeds.
Not only did Leeds lose that game, but there were genuine relegation fears from thousands inside Elland Road afterwards due to the manner of defeat.
There is also, of course, that famous incident involving Matheus Klich.
Now, Leeds are a side reborn under Jesse Marsch following a summer of shrewd investment in gems such as Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra.
Hopefully, the Whites can continue their strong start to the season with another win on Sunday.
