'Enzo Maresca needs to leave Chelsea' - Fans furious at 'loser mentality'

Chelsea fans have blasted manager Enzo Maresca after his latest comments about the position the club find themselves in.
Maresca only took charge at Stamford Bridge last summer, when he replaced Mauricio Pochettino, whose departure from Chelsea was seen as a “mistake” by some.
For his part, Maresca joined the club after just one season as a first-team manager in England, where he had guided Leicester City to the Championship title in the 2023/24 campaign.
Initially, things had started well for the Italian in the Premier League, putting Chelsea second in the table by mid December and a potential title race.
However, results have taken a downward turn for the worse at Stamford Bridge recently, and Maresca’s latest admission about the situation has not gone down well either.
Chelsea running out of trophies to target
After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Brighton on Saturday (8 February), Chelsea have now won just three of their last ten games in all competitions.
They are now 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool with 14 games to go, suggesting they are out of the title race as well.
Meanwhile, having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup earlier in the campaign at Newcastle, that leaves the Blues seemingly with only the UEFA Conference League to target for major silverware.
That has already led to Chelsea fans hitting out at Maresca over star man Cole Palmer, and certain aspects of his approach.
Now, the 45-year-old appears to have risked alienating supporters even further, with his latest comment about the club’s search for silverware.
Enzo Maresca leaves fans raging with trophy admission
In the wake of that FA Cup defeat that has likely left them with just one trophy to compete for, many fans of the club have been left frustrated by that lack of tangible success up for grabs this season.
Maresca’s comments have do not seem to have helped the mood around that particular situation either.
After being asked about that fan sentiment, the blues boss admitted that Chelsea fans will be used to seeing success from when they grew up, saying: “I grew up watching Chelsea winning games and competitions but this Chelsea is not the same as that one.”
Responding to that admission on X, many of the club’s supporters were quick to argue that meant Maresca is not the right man for the job.
Others compared him to Pochettino, who did not deliver a trophy last season, while some hit out at the apparent backwards direction the club have gone in under the ownership of Todd Boehly.
Chelsea are next in action when they face Brighton in a rematch of last week’s FA Cup clash in the Premier League on Friday night [14 February].
