Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy have both reacted to their former Leicester City teammate Hamza Choudhury’s latest update.
All three were once part of the same squad with the Foxes. While Vardy remains at the club, Barnes has been at Newcastle since 2023 despite transfer interest from elsewhere.
As was revealed by Football Insider, Choudhury left Leicester last month to join Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season.
Hamza Choudhury gets support from former Leicester teammates
On Saturday (8 February), Choudhury enjoyed a significant first in his Sheffield United career, making his home debut for the club.
The versatile midfielder played 58 minutes at Bramall Lane as Chris Wilder’s side maintained their push for an immediate promotion back to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Portsmouth.
After the game, Choudhury took to Instagram to send a message to supporters of his new club, stating he “Loved my first experience as a Blade at Bramall Lane.”
Among those to react to that post were Vardy and Barnes, with the 27-year-old’s two former Leicester teammates both liking that post.
Sheffield United loan spell an opportunity for Hamza Choudhury
There is no doubt that the midfielder will be determined to impress during his time at Bramall Lane between now and the end of the season.
Sheffield United have the option to make Choudhury’s move from Leicester permanent in the summer, and a good run of performances would make it more likely that the Blades take up that option.
Given his limited game time with the Foxes this season, the 27-year-old may well hope he can secure that move if he continues to play regularly for Wilder’s team.
As a result, there may be extra incentive for Choudhury to help Sheffield United to promotion this season, in what could be an ironic turn of events with Leicester facing relegation from the Premier League.
