Joe Hart sends two-word message to Ange Postecoglou straight after Aston Villa 2-1 Tottenham

Life is not getting any easier for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Just days after a 4-0 hammering at Anfield in the Carabao Cup semi-final, Spurs were knocked out of another competition as Aston Villa recorded a 2-1 win over the north Londoners at Villa Park.

Once again, Tottenham embarked on a game without several key men, with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, James Maddison, Dominic Solanke and others still absent.

Weariness seems to be getting to Spurs, as they conceded after just 57 seconds, despite having kick-off, leaving Ange Postecoglou looking haunted on the touchline.

Speaking in the BBC studio after the game, Joe Hart responded when asked what he would text the Australian, who he made 104 appearances under at Celtic.

Joe Hart tells Ange Postecoglou to “stay strong” after FA Cup defeat

The 59-year-old looked utterly despondent at full-time as Tottenham suffered their fifth loss in the last eight games, leading Mark Chapman, Jermain Defoe, Dion Dublin and Hart to address the Spurs boss on an emotional level rather than tactical.

When Chapman asked Hart what he would text Postecoglou, the 37-year-old simply said: “Stay strong.”

“Strong” can easily be the defining word associated with the man born in Nea Filadelfeia ever since his arrival at Tottenham, as he continuously doubles down on his expansive style of play, despite many pundits – Jamie Carragher included – calling for him to adopt a more conservative approach at times.

Therefore, Postecoglou, who convinced Mathys Tel to join, should have no issues staying “strong” amid this tough time for Tottenham – he just needs to hope his star men can stay fit when they do eventually return.

After his two-word message, Hart continued: “It is a tough moment. You can see Ange Postecoglou feels it. His heart is on his sleeve, and at this moment he is being tested, he is being tested in his beliefs.

“You need the club behind you and that’s what they really need.”

Daniel Levy must stick with Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

A change in the dugout should be the last thing on Daniel Levy’s mind right now.

Spurs have cycled through the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte – as well as interim stints for Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason – with no substantial or sustainable improvement occurring.

Postecoglou is the only one of these coaches who has – at least – placed some focus on the future and put an emphasis on Tottenham being successful for years to come, developing talents such as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Pape Sarr and Mikey Moore, which we feel should buy him added time.
