Leeds United working on deal to sign 'No 10' - 'I've seen all the clips'

Leeds United are working on a deal to sign Krasnodar attacking midfielder Eduard Spertsyan in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the latest edition ofFootball Insider's Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains closely connected to the club, revealed that the 24-year-old is being watched by "a number of clubs."

The Krasnodar captain is under contract until 2026, which could lead to the club looking to cash in on him in the summer before he becomes a free agent in the following transfer window.

The Armenia international has scored six goals and provided three assists across 18 appearances this season in all competitions, proving his qualities in the final third.

That is something Spertsyan has done throughout his entire career, scoring 63 goals an providing 47 assists in 241 appearances.

Daniel Farke wants to enhance his attacking options

Daniel Farke is aiming to strengthen his options at the top end of the pitch ahead of next season, providing himself with more quality and quantity.

The Yorkshire giants are pushing for a return to the Premier League and currently sit top of the Championship, increasing the need to improve the squad overall.

Football Insider revealed that Leeds were focusing on singing a number 10 at the start of the January transfer window, with this being a key position for Farke.

Leeds ultimately didn't sign a single player during the winter transfer window, increasing the need for the club's ownership to back Farke in the summer with new players.

Leeds United could be taking a risk by signing Eduard Spertsyan

"24-year-old Armenian international, played most of his career from all of it in Russia, at Krasnodar," Robinson told Football Insider.

"[He's] played over 100 games for Krasnodar. I was looking at him I’ve seen a couple of clips of him.

"He’s versatile, attacking midfielder, can play anywhere, left, right or in the number 10 role.

"Whether he can cope at Championship level or Premiership level, the jury’s out, it would be a cheaper option, [but] wouldn’t be a huge marquee signing.

"He’s a talented player, there’s a lot of clubs that have looked at him and when you do watch his clips and you see how he plays, he’s a very creative, intelligent player going forward.

"But for me, it’s a risk signing.

"Go to the Premier League and Daniel Farke is still in charge, will they play the same system? Will they be as attacking? Will they have the license to play that many forward-thinking players?

"He would fit into the system.

"Can he cope with the Premier League? Can he cope with the Championship?

"I’m not sure, but there’s a certain amount of talent around the player because he’s been watched by a lot of people."
