Tottenham Hotspur experienced more heartache in what looks like a truly cursed season for them as they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa to end their hopes of winning the FA Cup this season.
Tottenham’s players were driven by the cup competitions but days after getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup after their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, Villa further damaged their campaign.
Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that Spurs can go on to win the Europa Conference League to fulfil his early-season vow of always winning trophies in his second season.
But for the time being, Tottenham are sitting in 14th place in the Premier League, having been eliminated from two cup competitions and there is every reason for there to be doom and gloom surrounding Spurs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s name was heard being sang at Villa Park, which sums up how disillusioned several Lilywhites supporters are with life under Ange Postecoglou.
Jamie O’Hara called for Postecoglou to get sacked after Aston Villa defeated Tottenham as the owners must have also heard the visiting fans belt out Pochettino’s name.
Tottenham fans chant Mauricio Pochettino’s name during defeat vs Aston Villa
Initially, Villa fans were poking fun at Ange Postecoglou by chanting, “You’re getting sacked in the morning!” in numbers.
However, a whost host of Tottenham fans did not choose to back the Australian tactician as Aston Villa supporters seemed to have the time of his life.
Instead, a vast number of Spurs fans sang in response: “Mauricio Pochettino! He’s magic, you know!”
The aforementioned chant was often belted out by Tottenham fans when life was good under the Argentine.
Chris Sutton reckons Pochettino would be perfect for Tottenham and save them from the mess they find themselves in this term and it seems like several members of the club’s fanbase agree.
Even Danny Rose called for Pochettino to return as the job he did in N17 was nothing short of spectacular. However, it is important to remember that the former Chelsea boss is managing the US national team.
Could Mauricio Pochettino become Tottenham manager if Ange Postecoglou gets sacked?
Unfortunately for a plethora of Spurs fans, Mauricio Pochettino’s chances of returning to Tottenham are “unlikely.”
Journalist Dean Jones revealed last month: “A return for Mauricio Pochettino would undoubtedly excite Tottenham fans, but is very unlikely.
"He has recently taken charge of the United States men's national team and while a north London comeback remains a tantalising prospect, his current commitments make it improbable in the near term.”
Tottenham decided to stick with Ange Postecoglou after their shock 2-1 defeat against Leicester City.
But it seems like Postecoglou may not have much more time to save his job after losses to both Liverpool and Aston Villa.
