‘Clout’s a hell of a drug’ – Wilfried Zaha bites back at Reece James’s ‘lock’ Instagram post following Chelsea win at Crystal Palace but then deletes

Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha took a swipe at Reece James on Instagram following the Eagles’ defeat to Chelsea – then deleted it. The Blues defender had posted an in-game picture of him and the Palace star with a padlock emoji as the caption – hinting that he’d had Zaha and his attacking threat locked down all game. Zaha and James went toe-to-toe at Selhust Park on SaturdayGetty As former Palace fan favourite Gallagher netted the winner for the BluesGetty The Eagles had taken the lead on Saturday afternoon thanks to Odsonne Édouard’s seventh minute opener. However, the Palace forward’s effort was eventually cancelled out, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bringing Chelsea level with his first goal for the Blues and Conor Gallagher – who was on loan at Selhurst Park last season – scoring a last minute wonderstrike. Zaha – who’s scored four times this season – was uncharacteristically quiet throughout his side’s 2-1 narrow defeat. The Ivory Coast international managed just one shot on target and one successful dribble in the match, with James keeping him at bay. And it’s clear Zaha wasn’t too pleased with the England international’s reaction to his performance on social media. “Clouts a hell of a drug lol but yall be safe [sic],” the 29-year-old wrote on his Instagram story. James posted a picture of him and Zaha battling for the ball, with a lock emoji as the captioninstagram:@reecejames Zaha clearly though James was getting ahead of himself, responding on his Instagram storyinstagram:@wilfriedzaha Most read in Football GAMEDAY Man City 4-0 Man United LIVE: Haaland is 'like a man playing an under-fives game' SAVAGE Conte reacts to Spurs loss by reminding Arsenal fans how they beat them to top four unimpressed 'It's poor' - Arsenal legend Keown hits back at Ferguson after 'babies' comment myth Keane didn't end Haaland's dad's career, but City star can still get revenge on United WOW Lionel Messi scores wonderful free-kick as Kasper Schmeichel is rooted to the spot GAMEDAY Liverpool 3-3 Brighton LIVE: Trossard scores hat-trick as points shared at Anfield Soon, though, the story was deleted – but not before eagle-eyed fans spotted it. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s comeback marked the first win for new manager Graham Potter following his move from the Eagles’ rivals Brighton.
