'Big threat': Jurgen Klopp admits he thinks £24k-a-week Rangers player is brilliant at shooting

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Glasgow Rangers captain James Tavernier after facing him with Liverpool last night. The Reds boss hailed the Ibrox skipper’s shooting ability after seeing off the Scottish Premiership club 2-0 at Anfield in the Champions League. That means Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side really need a result at Ibrox against Liverpool next time out, as they currently sit bottom of the group with no points. Klopp spoke to Liverpool’s official website after the game and discussed the tactical change his side made to more of a 4-2-3-1 system on the night. It was rare, but happened more. “That’s why we set it up slightly different, closed different gaps. We knew obviously the left side of Rangers is the creative side with Ryan [Kent] and [Borna] Barisic, and [James] Tavernier is a big threat in the finishing situations, so that was the part that had to do with the game, but apart from that no.” A first-half goal from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a Mo Salah penalty gives Liverpool the victory at Anfield.Liverpool 2-0 Rangers#UCL | @ChampionsLeague pic.twitter.com/NnqIDHtAPs— Rangers Football Club (@RangersFC) October 4, 2022 Tavernier, who earns £24,000 per week as salary (Salary Sport), has been at Rangers since 2015 and is so important to their gameplan. Trent Alexander-Arnold opened the scoring for Liverpool last night, and Tavernier is capable of similar dead ball quality and is also a right-back who has taken on so much attacking importance for Rangers. Tavernier will be hoping to lead his side to a better result in matchday four as Rangers look for their first Champions League points of the season.
