Furthermore, football director Fabio Cordella has even statedthat Antonio Conte’s side are in the mix to sign Leao, who has a release clause of £105 million (TuttoMercatoWeb) in his contract, in conversation with Calciomercato.

While it seemed like a far cry that Spurs would be able to prise away the sought-after forward, the task at their hands may have become even taller, with another club seemingly keen on his arrival.

Laporta is a Leao fan

As per the latest information provided by journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona president Joan Laporta ‘loves’ Tottenham target Rafael Leao.

Furthermore, the club itself have extremely positive reports in place about the tricky winger, who scored for Portugal off the bench in their 3-2 against Ghana in the World Cup on Thursday night.

However, there has been no indication as per Juanmarti’s revelation that the Catalan giants have made a serious enquiry into his current situation at the club.

If Barcelona join the Leao race, Tottenham stand no chance

Yes, Blaugrana’s elimination from the Champions League group stage was a massive misstep.

However, the club’s two-point lead at the top of La Liga is a sign that things are headed in the right direction under Xavi.

As for Tottenham, they have been largely underwhelming this season, despite being in the top four.

With the Spanish side, both currently and historically better-placed to win silverware than the North Londoners, it would be a no-brainer for Rafael Leao to join the former.

If Barcelona finds themselves in a two-horse race with Tottenham to sign Rafael Leao, there’s only one winner in that battle.
