West Ham want Gianluca Scamacca and have now made contact to try and sign the Sassuolo striker amid links to Arsenal.

The Hammers are chasing a striker this summer as they look to give Michail Antonio more support in the final third.

Sebastien Haller was sold back in January 2021 and remarkably still hasn’t really been replaced.

In fact, Haller – on his way from Ajax to Borussia Dortmund – is set to complete another transfer of his own before West Ham have even replaced him.

After securing the big-money signing of Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd, now is the time for West Ham to strike with a new attacking addition.

West Ham want Gianluca Scamacca

An intriguing target is emerging over in Italy with West Ham believed to be keen on Sassuolo hitman Scamacca.

90Min report that West Ham have now spoken to Sassuolo about a potential deal to bring Scamacca to East London.

West Ham also want to add Scamacca’s Sassuolo teammate Giacomo Raspadori in what could be a double deal.

Scamacca, 23, racked up 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season; it’s worth noting that only 25 of those appearances came as a starter.

The Italian is clearly a huge goalscoring threat – in more ways than one.

Scamacca stands at a giant 6ft 5in tall and whilst being big and strong as you would expect, Scamacca also possesses a deft touch.

Backed for a big future, Scamacca has been described as having ‘incredible potential’ over in Italy.

West Ham may now hope to pull off an ambitious swoop for Scamacca and potentially leave Arsenal out in the cold.

90Min reported earlier this month that technical director Edu wants to bring Scamacca to Arsenal in a deal worth around £35million.

Gabriel Jesus is on Arsenal’s radar too but West Ham could take Scamacca off the market with a big move to East London.

A deal won’t be easy given Sassuolo’s asking price, but West Ham could now add a perfect goalscoring threat to take some pressure off Antonio.
