Forget Gray: There's only one Leicester ace Tottenham should look to sign this summer

Tottenham supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side's FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United this evening, as Spurs seek to reach the showpiece for the first time since winning the competition back in 1991. Mauricio Pochettino's men kicked off their quest for a ninth FA Cup crown with a routine 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon in the third round, but found things trickier in rounds four and five, needing replays to get past both Newport County and Rochdale. Yet Spurs produced their best performance of the competition in thumping Swansea City 3-0 in the last eight last month, thus setting up a semi-final clash with Jose Mourinho's United at Wembley this afternoon. Consequently, there are many positive Tottenham fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are hoping that their side can indeed go on and win the FA Cup this season, and thus end their team's ten-year wait for some silverware. In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Spurs supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking their club with a move for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray. And while the 21-year-old would likely be a good addition to Pochettino's squad, they should forget about a move for the England Under-21 international, as there's only one Leicester star Tottenham should look to sign this summer, namely Riyad Mahrez. Ultimately, the 27-year-old has proven himself to be one of the Premier League's best attackers in the last few years, not least in the Foxes' title-winning campaign of 2015/16 in which he scored 17 goals and laid on ten assists to inspire Claudio Ranieri's men to achieve the unlikely. And while the Algeria international wasn't at his best in the succeeding campaign, he has returned to his best this term with ten goals and nine assists for Claude Puel's side, helping them to the relative safety of mid-table. Thus, there is no doubting that Mahrez would add even more creativity to the Spurs ranks, which would certainly aid Tottenham in their bid to compete on several fronts next term, with Champions League qualification almost assured. Significantly though, the 27-year-old wouldn't just be a squad player, he'd be someone who is plenty good enough to push the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, and Son Heung-min in the attacking ranks. And with experience of winning the Premier League, Mahrez would also add much-needed trophy-winning experience to a Spurs side very much bereft of such in their pursuit of major honours. And while Gray is undoubtedly a talented player with a big future in the game, 27-year-old Mahrez is the present and someone who can help Spurs achieve what they want in the next few years. As such, Pochettino's side should forget about 21-year-old Gray and instead seek to land Leicester teammate Mahrez instead. Tottenham fans… what do you think? Let us know!
