AS Monaco’s quest to seal a top-four finish in Ligue 1 this season continued Saturday with Folarin Balogun delivering an impactful shift off the bench.

Balogun scored twice as Monaco routed Metz 5-2 away from home. The American forward scored his goals in the final 14 minutes of the match, taking his goal tally up to eight this season across all competitions.

Balogun’s right-footed finish in the 76th minute extended Monaco’s lead to 4-0 before the hosts would cut the deficit in half with a pair of consolation goals.

After breaking his goal-less drought earlier in the half, Balogun grabbed his second tally of the match in the final minutes. Thilo Kehrer’s cross was slotted home by Balogun for his first multi-goal performance for the club.

Adolf Hutter’s squad would hang on for a crucial three points, sitting second in the league table.

The 22-year-old recently returned to club action after helping the U.S. men’s national team repeat as CONCACAF Nations League winners.

Monaco next hosts Rennes on April 7 as it aims to extend its unbeaten run to six matches in Ligue 1 play.
