Johnson and Long headline remaining MLS free agents

The 2022 MLS offseason is powering through the final weeks of the year and several of the league’s top players remain available for signing. U.S. men’s national team members Aaron Long and Sean Johnson headline the list of 71 remaining MLS free agents following the conclusion of the league season. All 17 players are free to sign anywhere in MLS, or abroad. Derrick Etienne Jr, Graham Zusi, and Jake Nerwinski are among several players who recently signed new contracts after watching their current deals expire. The 2020 CBA established new rules for free agency in MLS. Instead of requiring players to be at least 28-years-old and to have at least eight years of MLS experience, the new CBA requires players to be at least 24-years-old and to have at least five years of MLS experience.
