Dominic Solanke’s wonderful season in the Premier League continued with a record-breaking goal against Manchester United.

The striker has now scored 17 top-flight goals, which is one more than Josh King managed during the 2016/17 campaign.

Many Cherries fans believed that King’s record in the top-flight may never be beaten, but the former Liverpool man has been brilliant this year.

Andoni Iraola has got the best out of the forward, who has made a mockery of those who’ve doubted him.

His goal put Bournemouth 1-0 up against United at the Vitality Stadium, and it moved him level with Alexander Isak in the race for the Golden Boot.

Solanke is now just three goals shy of Manchester City marksman, who currently leads the way.

And his expert finish in the 16th minute showed exactly why many fans want him included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024.

He chased down a hopeful pass from Marcos Senesi down the left flank, where he came up against United defender Willy Kambwala.

But the Frenchman was no match for Solanke, shoved the centre-back off with the youngster hitting the deck.

And he decided to let fly from outside the box where he nestled his effort into the bottom left corner beyond Andre Onana.

With Euro 2024 fast approaching, Solanke is doing all he can to force his way into Southgate‘s plans after he was overlooked for the March friendlies.

Solanke faces plenty of competition in Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins, but Southgate could find it hard to leave him out should he continue to bang the goals in.

United were back on level terms just 15 minutes after Solanke’s opener, with Bruno Fernandes volleying home into the roof of the net.

But Justin Kluivert put the hosts 2-1 up shortly later after beating Onana at his front post.
