Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold eyed up by Real Madrid amid contract situation at Anfield

Real Madrid are reportedly keeping an eye on Trent Alexander-Arnold as his future at Liverpool remains uncertain.

Following his continued success five years later, Alexander-Arnold signed a new contract to commit his long-term future to Liverpool.

However, this is set to expire in the summer of 2025 and there is yet to be any word of him signing a new deal at Anfield.

As a result, Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed that European giants Madrid are ‘monitoring’ the defender’s contract situation.

Talks over a new contract haven’t commenced as of now, although Liverpool haven’t shown any signs of them wanting to sell.

Alexander-Arnold’s own views also remain unknown, with his deal’s expiry to potentially attract offers in the summer.

He could be one of three big-name departures from Liverpool as they prepare for life after Jurgen Klopp.

Fellow key players Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are in the same situation as Alexander-Arnold, with their deals also expiring next year.

Both of them are in their early 30’s, whereas Alexander-Arnold is only in his mid-20’s, meaning he is still one to keep for the future.

The Liverpool academy graduate has made 302 senior appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and assisting another 82.

Alexander-Arnold has been crucial in their Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup success in recent seasons.

talkSPORT was told by former Liverpool CEO Peter Moore that his contract situation, along with Van Dijk and Salah, will be one of the first big jobs for Michael Edwards as their new CEO of football.

And fans will be desperate for him to sign another long-term deal as they eye further silverware in the post-Klopp era.
