Luton 'not good enough for the Premier League' after 'disaster' result at Bournemouth

talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy labelled Luton’s capitulation away at Bournemouth as a ‘disaster’ amid their relegation fears.

The Hatters travelled to the Cherries knowing a win could have taken them out of the Premier League bottom three.

Goals from Tahith Chong, Chiedozie Ogbene and Ross Barkley saw them take a 3-0 lead into half time, with victory seemingly secured.

However, Bournemouth came out fighting in the second half with Antoine Semenyo’s 84th minute goal completing the 4-3 turnaround.

It’s a devastating result that could prove detrimental to Luton’s hopes of survival, and Cundy believes that Rob Edwards side can’t cut it in the top flight.

Speaking with Jamie O’Hara on The Sports Bar after the match, he said: “That tonight, that is a disaster.

“They showed that they can scrap and they’ve shown that they can give teams trouble. But tonight shows they’re just not good enough unfortunately.”

O’Hara disagreed with him, but the former Chelsea defender replied: “You can’t be 3-0 up J and walk away with nowt!”

Luton remain in the relegation zone and next go to Nottingham Forest, who sit three points above them in 17th.

Brentford and Everton are also at risk of being dragged into a fight for safety but Cundy says they’ll be relieved to see Luton’s collapse.

Cundy issued a damning assessment of Luton’s performance

“Like I said, yes there have been moments in games and there have been games where they’ve shown they can scrap and they can fight, but they’re gonna go down.

“Tonight is a disaster because they were out of the bottom three, they were out of the bottom three on goal difference. Going away to Forest at the weekend, which is now big… they’ve got out of jail here Forest, Everton can’t believe their luck.

“Even Brentford must be looking at that thinking, ‘Oh my God’, maybe [Crystal] Palace although I doubt it, but that’s a disaster J.

“To go away from home, 3-0 up at half-time, that doesn’t often happen no matter who you are, Man City don’t even do that.”

He added: “That’s a disaster for Luton mate, it’s a terrible result, that’s the worst result they’ve had this season, by some distance.”
