Sven-Goran Eriksson hailed Jurgen Klopp as a ‘legend’ when the pair met for the first time before the Liverpool Legends game.

The former England manager sadly revealed in January he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, stating that he has ‘at best a year’ to live.

He’s now going to get his wish to be part of the Liverpool management team for the Legends game against Ajax on Saturday, with the lifelong Red finally getting to be in the Anfield dugout.

But before he even got to step out onto the pitch, Eriksson got to live another dream – meeting current Reds boss and club legend, Klopp.

Footage posted on Liverpool’s official X account shows Eriksson looking starstruck as he walks towards Klopp to shake his hand.

“What a legend,” Eriksson is heard saying to the Liverpool boss.

Klopp then gives him a hug, before saying: “Nice to meet you!”

Putting his hand on Klopp’s back, Eriksson then continues to tell Klopp just how much he admires him.

“Congratulations,” he says with a smile.

“Thank you very much,” Klopp replies.

“You’re doing great!” Eriksson continues.

Klopp then grins at him and says: “We’ll do our best.”

Eriksson was reduced to tears after receiving a heartfelt video message from his former England players offering messages of support this week.

That included a clip of Steven Gerrard, with the ex-Liverpool skipper set to be managed by Eriksson once again at Anfield on Saturday.

On Friday, Eriksson admitted that leading a Liverpool Legends side out at Anfield will be ‘like a dream’.
