After retiring at the age of 30, Edwards returned to the Midlands outfit as a coach for the Under-18s in 2013, before becoming a first team coach two years later. And after then-boss Walter Zenga was sacked in September 2016, Edwards took charge of the club for two matches prior to Paul Lambert’s arrival. But he failed to win any of the games, as his side were held to a 1-1 draw away at Blackburn before losing 3-2 against Derby. Since departing in 2017, he has managed AFC Telford and England’s U16s, before earning rave reviews at Forest Green Rovers. He was named as the League Two Manager of the Season for the 2021/22 campaign after winning the fourth division title.
