Ten Hag backs Ivorian star

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has explained why Amad Diallo has been short of regular game time this season as the Ivorian star puts his hand up for a position on the Red Devil's right-wing position.

Despite making just seven appearances for United so far this season, Diallo has been a star performer for Ten Hag in the last couple of weeks.

With United spoilt for choice in the right-wing position, ten Hag feels that Diallo deserves a shot at proving himself in the Red Devils starting XI.

"So we rebuilt him, he's now had some opportunities, he's really contributed," ten Hag said, as per the Metro.

"But also he played in a position that is not his best position, I would say. Started as a striker but then he has to play in the midfield, so he did well.

"But we have a number of players in that area, there's big competition there, and actually he already has deserved more minutes I would say.

"I am very happy with his performances, with his progress, and I see his qualities. He has some assets that can really contribute to our game."
