Report: Newcastle now holding talks about signing £6m Arsenal, Conte & Emery target

Newcastle are now holding talks about the signing of Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa target Marcus Thuram.
What’s the story?
Well, that is according to The Athletic, who believe the Magpies have monitored the France international for many months, and internal discussions about a swoop for his signature are now taking place on Tyneside.
It comes after L’Equipe claimed that Aston Villa are keen to sign Thuram.
Elsewhere, it was Milan Live who revealed that Arsenal want the Frenchman when also stating that AC Milan are interested.
The Sun added that Tottenham are hoping to sign Thuram, who Bild believe can be signed for just £6m as his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach is set to expire at the end of the season.
Now, however, a very reliable source in The Athletic believes Newcastle are considering a move, which doesn’t surprise us.
Thuram has been among the best forwards in Europe so far this season, earning a place in France’s World Cup squad after scoring 13 goals in 17 appearances during the first half of the campaign.
The 25-year-old has also provided four assists, meaning he is averaging one goal involvement per game.

Interestingly, this is something of a unique situation, in which a simple bidding war probably won’t be enough for Newcastle to win the race.
£6m is an affordable fee for Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham and Aston Villa, so Eddie Howe and his recruitment team will need to draw up a convincing pitch to attract Thuram to St James’ Park.
A clear roadmap for the forward’s future must be drafted, as he may wonder where his game time will come from as Howe already has Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak to choose from, as well as Chris Wood.
Newcastle have already managed to lure gems such as Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes to Tyneside, so there is no reason why Thuram cannot be secured.
