EFL pundit issues score prediction ahead of Swansea City’s clash against Birmingham

Pundit David Prutton believes Swansea City will secure a 1-0 home victory against Birmingham City tomorrow afternoon, taking to the Sky Sports webite to issue his prediction. The Swans have had a decent amount of time to prepare for this clash with Russell Martin’s side not in FA Cup action last weekend, giving them an extra week to recharge their batteries. This break may have been much-needed for the Welsh outfit who have struggled in recent months, securing just two wins in their last 12 league games and failing to be consistent enough to force their way into the promotion push. However, their 4-0 victory against Watford during the latter stages of December and promising results against Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers last month have put them in pole position to secure all three points in this clash. Birmingham, meanwhile, aren’t in the best shape at this stage despite having a decent squad on paper, with John Eustace’s side failing to build on a promising start to the season. They made a decent start to last term too, so they will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2021/22 campaign and finish in a much more promising position. Prutton believes their woes may continue in South Wales though, with the Sky Sports presenter predicting a 1-0 home victory. The Verdict: Birmingham aren’t in a great situation at this point with Eustace’s men losing their last five league games and finding themselves slipping down the table. They will be looking to halt that slide sooner rather than later – and they will have real hope of doing so considering they performed well under their current boss during the early stages of his time at St Andrew’s. It’s not how they start the season though, it’s how they finish and that was reinforced last season with Lee Bowyer failing to keep his job beyond the summer despite managing to guide the Midlands outfit into the play-offs in September 2021 before their decline. The Swans have made unforced errors in the past though and have been shaky in defence at times, so whether Eustace’s men can capitalise on that could determine how they fare at the Swansea.com Stadium. This is certainly a winnable game for the visitors – but you have to say the hosts are favourites ahead of this clash. If the home side can get another win on the board, that will boost their top-six hopes. Source
