“I would definitely be tempted” – Bristol City fan pundit discusses big call looming over 20-y/o in January

AFC Wimbledon’s good run of form continued yesterday as they beat Tranmere Rovers 2-0 away from home. Whilst it’s been a team effort from Johnnie Jackson’s side, there’s no denying that Ryley Towler has made a big difference since coming into the XI following his loan from Bristol City in the summer window. The 20-year-old came through the ranks at the Robins and has been on the fringes of the first-team over the years but needed a loan to get more minutes. However, with Nigel Pearson’s side struggling, the prospect of bringing the versatile Towler back could be on the agenda in the New Year. And, speaking to FLW, Bristol City fan pundit Jack explained why a potential recall has to be under serious consideration. “I would definitely be tempted to bring Ryley Towler back from Wimbledon. I know he’s been impressing, I’ve got a mate who is a Wimbledon fan and he said he’s one of the fans favourite players and could easily be their Player of the Year. “He’s been playing in the midfield role as well, which could be useful in terms of backup in both defence and midfield.” The verdict This is exactly what Bristol City would’ve hoped for when they loaned Towler out as he has got a taste of competitive football at a good level and is clearly impressing for Wimbledon. Naturally, given the Robins’ position, you would be inclined to bring him back to beef up the squad and hope that this experience will allow Towler to push for a first-team place. But, they also need to think about what’s best for the youngster, so they have a big decision coming up in January and it will be interesting to see what happens. Thoughts?
