Nottingham Forest have made a decision that has left Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil absolutely stunned – and it’s fair to say the fans aren’t impressed either.

Evangelos Marinakis has drawn criticism from some parts during his time at the club and now he’s risked another backlash.

The Reds are still fighting for their Premier League survival and as a result, it perhaps seems a strange time to be announcing season card prices at the City Ground.

Still, clubs are run as businesses and announcing them now does give people a chance to secure their seats for the next campaign.

Recently, it was announced that Forest fans could pay £10 to join a season card waiting list – and now that decision is all starting to make sense.

After increasing the season card prices last season, the Reds have outdone themselves this season and completely hiked the prices up once again.

Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist react to ‘massive’ Nottingham Forest call

The season cards have now gone up almost 50% in one year and that doesn’t really smack of a working-class club.

Still, Forest are unlike any other Premier League outfit – with costs rising across the board – and at the top end of the spectrum, football is nothing more than a business.

With thousands now on a waiting list, Forest know that if the current fan base doesn’t buy season cards, other people will.

Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist have reacted on TalkSPORT this morning and it’s fair to say that they don’t agree with the decision made by Forest.

Brazil said: “I don’t know the ins and outs but that seems a lot to me.”

McCoist agreed and he continued: “That’s massive. We don’t know if this is the first hike in what 10 or 20 years, so it’s difficult to comment on it, but you have got to say 24% particularly, even if they go down!”

Forest have upset supporters at the worst possible time

Forest’s game against Everton on Saturday is arguably their biggest of the season and a win could change the landscape completely.

A defeat could see them rooted in big trouble, with Forest set to move into the bottom three before the game if Luton beat Brentford on Saturday.

With Tom Cartledge in place as chairman at Forest, it’s a shame that the club have decided to hike the prices by such a large amount again.

The recently appointed chairman is a Forest supporter and understands the ethos of the football club acting as a pillar of the community.

These prices will definitely price some people out and one year on from abolishing the 18-25 category, Forest have somehow managed to outdo themselves.

And the club knows it.

A somewhat sarcastic tweet came out last night saying that a record number of people had already signed up to renew their season cards.

That is completely missing the point though and the last thing the club needs at this stage is lots of angst towards the hierarchy from its most loyal supporters.
