'Hopefully': EFL club want to sign Nottingham Forest gems on loan, 22-year-old is with them now

Morecambe boss Ged Brannan is hoping Nottingham Forest can become a senior affiliate to the EFL outfit in the future.

The manager has been speaking to the Lancaster Guardian – with Morecambe currently having Julian Larsson on a temporary deal.

So, what has Brannan said about Morecambe and the relationship with Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

Ged Brannan wants Nottingham Forest players on loan

Well, it would appear as though the Morecambe manager Brannan is keen to ensure a water-tight relationship with Forest.

In January, the Shrimpers took Larsson on loan for the remainder of the season to help him get up to speed in men’s football.

It was claimed earlier in the season that several EFL clubs were watching Forest youngsters during the EFL Trophy campaign.

Larsson managed to get hooked up with a move, with Dale Taylor, Alex Mighten and Brandon Aguilera also heading out.

Now, Brannan hopes that this deal can be the start of a very healthy relationship that sees Morecambe land other Forest players in the future.

He told the Lancaster Guardian: “We’ve got a really good relationship with Nottingham Forest so, hopefully, we might be able to get a couple of their players.”

Forest having Morecambe as feeder club would be ideal

In our view, this seems like a good idea from a Forest point of view.

With the Reds in the Premier League, it will be harder for the younger players to get regular game time in the first-team.

As a result, more players will need to head out on loan to get themselves regular game time and understand men’s football.

Morecambe are enjoying a pretty good season and are currently in the hunt for the play-offs this season.

Larsson has made six appearances for the Shrimpers, registering one assists.

The key for him is regular game time and the fact that he’s playing could tempt Forest to call on Morecambe again next season.
