Nuno Espirito Santo has now revealed that Nottingham Forest could welcome back a key player against Everton.

If that does happen, it would be ideal timing for the Reds.

Nuno needs all hands on deck for what is undoubtedly going to be an incredibly difficult clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Toffees will be eager to bounce back in front of their own supporters after an embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Chelsea, and that is without mentioning the fact this is a relegation six-pointer.

So, who did Nuno Espirito Santo say could return for Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…

Nuno Espirito Santo says Anthony Elanga could return for Nottingham Forest

Well, Nottingham Forest No.21 Anthony Elanga could return for Sunday’s crucial game against Everton.

The youngster, aged just 21, missed last week’s 2-2 draw against Wolves with a minor knock, but Nuno has now confirmed that the rapid forward could be fit to face the Toffees.

As quoted by the Nottingham Post, the 50-year-old said: “In the middle of the week, Anthony was able to do something with us. We are managing him until tomorrow and then will assess him for the game.”

It would be a major boost for Nottingham Forest if Elanga, who Morgan Gibbs-White called an “absolutely amazing” footballer, is fit enough to face Everton.

The Swede has been a key player for the Reds this season, scoring five goals while also providing eight assists in 31 Premier League appearances.

Two players still missing

While Elanga may return to action, Nuno is still without Willy Boly and Taiwo Awoniyi.

The latter is making progress in his recovery from a thigh injury – but is yet to return to training.

Nuno added: “Taiwo hasn't joined the group yet. He is still partially integrated into the group. We have the same players out. Boly is out, but we are recovering.”

Hopefully, Nottingham Forest can get the job done on Merseyside and secure a hugely significant three points – whether Elanga is fit enough to play or not.
