Ryan Yates has now heaped praise on one of his teammates after Nottingham Forest recorded a crucial 3-1 win over Sheffield United.

A stunning strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised for the Garibaldi after Ben Brereton Diaz put the Blades 1-0 up.

Yates then smashed the Reds into the lead, before Nottingham Forest’s No.14 scored his second of the afternoon with another brilliant effort.

So, who did Ryan Yates praise after Sheffield United 1-3 Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…

Ryan Yates hails Callum Hudson-Odoi

Well – unsurprisingly – it was the England international who received praise from Yates after the win at Bramall Lane.

The Nottingham Forest No.22 told BBC Sport: “He has got so much ability it is ridiculous. He is pushing every day to get his numbers up. He was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch. I am really pleased for him.”

After several flashes of brilliance from Hudson-Odoi this season, his performance at Bramall Lane felt like the moment Nottingham Forest’s £3m summer signing truly announced himself to supporters.

The 23-year-old stepped up and showed his class at a time where Nottingham Forest desperately needed him to do exactly that.

As WhoScored shows, Hudson-Odoi had four shots at goal, more than any of his teammates, while also impressively providing three key passes.

Interestingly, the Chelsea academy graduate did not complete a single dribble – usually his best trait – which suggests he has decided to cut that out and become more effective in the final third by focusing on clinical end product instead.

Nottingham Forest may have struck gold

If Nuno Espirito Santo can secure safety this season, Hudson-Odoi could propel himself back to being a £50m footballer next season.

The electric winger – who Pep Guardiola recently singled out for praise – now looks to have overcome that horrible Achilles injury suffered at Chelsea, and with a full pre-season under his belt, the 2024/25 campaign could see him burst into life at the City Ground.

Don’t forget Nottingham Forest signed Hudson-Odoi for just £3m, and he is still just 23 years of age, so if he can deliver more displays like his performance at Bramall Lane, the Reds will surely stand to make at least ten times that sum in the event of any future sale.
