Arsenal are being tipped to make some new signings this summer and David Ornstein has been giving the lowdown on two potential wingers.

The Gunners could still win the league this season but regardless of that outcomes, the club are still preparing to make some important moves in the summer market.

Mikel Arteta is constantly looking to evolve and improve his team. A new striker could be signed, as could a midfielder to replace Thomas Partey or Jorginho.

However, it is also in wide areas where Arsenal are thought to be keen on strengthening.

Pedro Neto of Wolves has long been linked with a move to Arsenal but speaking about Neto, David Ornstein has suggested the Portuguese star might not be the number one choice anymore.

Arsenal like Pedro Neto but £43m La Liga star could also be looked at

Answering questions in his latest Q&A piece for The Athletic, Ornstein commented on Arsenal’s potential interest in Neto and also Atletico Bilbao star, Nico Williams.

“Arsenal have long wanted depth/competition in the wide forward positions and we have reported on their interest in Neto. Given his injury record and likely price, this is not a deal I would imagine is a priority for them this summer. Also, there are multiple other clubs considering a move for Neto, so even if Arsenal decided to pursue him they would face competition,” Ornstein said.

“Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao) is among the other options Arsenal like, but they are not his only admirers and there is no guarantee he leaves his club.”

Strength in depth needed to progress

Arsenal have been lucky this season that Bukayo Saka has managed to stay fit throughout the majority of the season, with only minor niggles hindering him.

On the other side, Gabriel Martinelli has suffered with a few problems and that in itself highlights the need for new players at The Emirates.

In terms of Neto, the injury worries are there and he simply hasn’t played the games in recent seasons to warrant a huge spend from the Gunners.

Nico Williams is an interesting option though. He’s done brilliantly in Spain and the next natural step for him is either the Premier League or one of Spain’s very top clubs.

Williams is believed to hold a relatively small £43m release-clause too so on that front, he could well make a lot of sense for the Gunners.
