Dejan Lovren sends eight-word message to Liverpool star Mo Salah after what happened in Egypt game last night

Dejan Lovren and Mohamed Salah shared a fantastic relationship when they were together at Liverpool, and it looks like that bond hasn’t gone away.

The two players are fondly remembered by Liverpool fans, perhaps for different reasons.

Lovren was a great character in the Reds squad and always gave his all in games. He produced a few fantastic performances as well during his time there.

Salah, on the other hand, is one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever players. He is certain to go down as a legend of the club in the coming years.

The international break is currently going on, and both Croatia and Egypt have been in action. The two sides even faced each other last night.

However, neither Dejan Lovren nor Mohamed Salah was involved in the game

Lovren announced his retirement from international football after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while Salah is still active on the international circuit, but he wasn’t called up to the squad as he had only just returned from his injury.

It was a meaningless friendly, but Lovren has suggested that he still wanted to play in that game, but only if Salah had played too.

The Croatian revealed on his Instagram Story that it is his dream to play against Salah one day, but unfortunately for him, that hasn’t been possible.

“My only wish was to play against you,” Lovren wrote, tagging Salah in his story.

What has happened to Dejan Lovren since leaving Liverpool

Dejan Lovren spent six years at Liverpool after joining the Reds from Southampton in 2014. He played 185 times and helped them win the Premier League and the Champions League.

In the summer of 2020, Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg signed Lovren for a fee of £10.9 million (BBC). He spent two-and-a-half years there and won a total of six trophies.

In January last year, Lovren left Russia and moved to France, where he joined Olympique Lyon.

He isn’t a regular there, but at 34 years of age, his experience at the top level would be a great thing for all the younger players in the squad.
