Arsenal’s pre-season efforts are now drawing to a close following their tour of the United States which they have recently returned from.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have not exactly been red hot in the transfer market, but this summer looks like quality will be targeted over quantity.

Arsenal were almost there in the title race last season with just two points proving the difference.

Some top quality additions could be exactly what they need this season to just turn the tables at the top of the Premier League.

There is still a feeling that more could be done following the signing of Riccardo Calafiori and it appears the Gunners still have their eyes on a player from one of their Premier League rivals.

Arsenal eyeing trade deal with Newcastle for star player

When it comes to this summer’s transfer window, Newcastle fans have certainly had their patience tested.

A real lack of movement in the market with only Lloyd Kelly, two backup goalkeepers and a young prospect brought in for the future.

Newcastle are believed to now be in talks to sign England centre-back Marc Guehi but a deal for him would come at a big cost.

And it now seems as if Arsenal are looking to push the Toon this summer by potentially offering a player they like in exchange – as well as cash – for one of their top players.

According to TeamNewsAndTix, Arsenal could be willing to offer Aaron Ramsdale and cash for Bruno Guimaraes before the end of the window.

“The clubs aren’t really clear on it but they just feel that Newcastle aren’t out of the woods in terms of finances, that’s what I was told,” he said.

“So, I was initially told that by someone at Arsenal and, if they’re not, we could be looking at a deal with them for Bruno and Ramsdale going the other way.”

Could Arsenal sign both Mikel Merino and Bruno Guimaraes?

Arsenal are now believed to be closing in on a deal for Mikel Merino this summer with the Real Sociedad midfielder set to leave Real Sociedad.

But adding a ‘world class‘ player like Bruno Guimaraes would be a real statement of intent this summer.

Guimaraes is a player who Manchester City have also been keen on this summer so it would also be a case of getting one over on their title rivals.

Sweetening the deal with the £30mAaron Ramsdale could be a smart move by the Gunners, but if they are still in financial trouble, then maybe a cash deal could be needed.
