Mikel Arteta has shared two reasons why he was unhappy at half-time during Arsenal's win over Chelsea last night.

The Arsenal boss certainly wouldn't have been disappointed at the final whistle after watching his side hit Chelsea for five.

Kai Havertz and Ben White were both at the double in the second period after Leandro Trossard opened the scoring early in the first half.

Despite an emphatic 5-0 win, Chelsea certainly had their moments in the first half, with Nicolas Jackson going close.

It could have easily been level heading into the break, despite some bright play from Arsenal in the final third.

And Mikel Arteta has revealed that he wasn't happy with a couple of things he saw from his side in the opening 45 minutes.

Arteta on what he wasn't happy with at half-time during Arsenal vs Chelsea clash

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Arteta admitted he wasn't best pleased with his side's work on the ball, as well as their defending in and around the penalty area.

"We were indisciplined in a few things we did, especially with the ball and then defending the box," he said.

"We had to be more displaced basically and do the right things. We did in the second half and created many chances, we also defended the box."

It's fair to say that Arteta sets high standards at Arsenal and it's no real surprise to hear he wasn't convinced by his side's first-half performance.

Whatever the Spaniard said during the break worked perfectly as the Gunners came out firing on all cylinders in the second half.

Arsenal vs Chelsea stats

The statistics reflect what was a brilliantly executed game plan from Arteta.

Arsenal usually dominate the ball at home but Chelsea had the edge in that regard with 56 per cent possession.

The Gunners were happy to let the Blues have the ball in deeper areas but quickly pounced to win it back in midfield.

Despite having less of the ball on the night, Arsenal managed 27 shots in comparison to Chelsea's seven.

They also created 3.42 xG, with Chelsea managing 1.68 on the night.

The Blues did create three big chances on the night but as has proven to be the case this season, they were wasteful in front of goal.
