West Ham United would be willing to offer €5m more than Brentford to sign Jota Silva this summer, with the race for his signature finally getting going.

That's according to O Jogo, who say West Ham are willing to move forward with a proposal for the forward, to ensure they get him ahead of Benfica and Brentford.

O Jogo report that, according to their information, West Ham are interested in Silva and are on the front line to secure his signature.

They've shown a willingness to pay his €20m release clause too, after becoming aware of Benfica and Brentford also potentially moving to sign him.

The Bees are willing to put forward a proposal worth up to €15m but West Ham would beat that by €5m to ensure they get preferential treatment.

They've been long interested in the forward, sending scouts to Portugal to watch him in five separate games and coming back with positive reports from each. Those reports had advised his signing and they're now ready to make that a reality.

Jota Silva, for his part, would be delighted with the move, although he absolutely wouldn't rule out joining one of the Portuguese giants like Benfica either.

West Ham, it seems, are ready to move to ensure that's not a possibility and even pay more to get their man ahead of that competition.
