Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said Ashley Maynard-Brewer has picked up a jaw injury.

Charlton Athletic have been without the goalkeeper in their squad since their clash against Wigan Athletic earlier this month.

Maynard-Brewer, 24, has been sidelined for their recent fixtures against Cambridge United and Shrewsbury Town and has been replaced by Lewis Ward on the bench.

Jones has provided this update on his situation, as per the official club website: “Ash picked up a jaw injury in training. He picks up injuries because he’s probably one of the bravest humans you’ll see. He picked up a collision injury and, being a goalkeeper, you can’t risk that.”

Charlton Athletic have opted for Harry Isted in goal over Maynard-Brewer since Jones took over from Michael Appleton.

The Australian stopper is under contract at The Valley until the summer of 2026, with the club holding the option of a further 12 months on top of that.

He has made 28 appearances in all competitions in this campaign, 25 of which have come in League One.

The Addicks have one match left to play this season and won’t want to risk him. They face an away trip to Wycombe Wanderers this weekend on the final day but have nothing to play for.

Charlton Athletic have been in solid form though under Jones and are unbeaten in their last 14 matches in all competitions so will be keen to take their momentum into next season.

Maynard-Brewer has been on the books of the London outfit since joining them in 2015 as a youngster.

He has played 62 times for the Addicks and has also had loan spells away at Chelmsford City, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Dulwich Hamlet, Ross County, Dover Athletic and Gillingham in the past to boost his development.

Charlton Athletic head into their trip to Wycombe Wanderers on the back of their 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town last time out. George Dobson scored their goal against the Shrews.
