Exeter City are keen to tie down Zak Jules to a new long-term contract, as detailed in a report by DevonLive.
Exeter City are understood to hold an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months this summer. However, they are apparently interested in keeping hold of him for longer beyond that as they prepare for another season in League One under the guidance of former Wigan Athletic boss Gary Caldwell.
Jules, 26, made the move to Devon last year and has become one of the Grecians’ key players. He made 47 appearances in all competitions for them in this past campaign, 40 of which came in the league, and he chipped in with two goals from defence.
In this latest update regarding his situation at St James Park by DevonLive, Exeter City ‘want’ to retain his services to avoid the risk of losing him to another team anytime soon.

Striking a deal with Jules would be a big boost for Caldwell’s side ahead of next term.
He has become one of the Grecians’ most prized assets and is an important player for them at the back.
The ex-Scotland youth international has played for a wide range of clubs so far in his career and seems to have found a home where he is now.
Jules is a product of the Reading academy and rose up through their ranks but never played for their first-team. He had loan spells away from Berkshire as a youngster at Hemel Hempstead Town, Braintree Town and Motherwell to get some experience under his belt.
He then left the Royals on a permanent basis in 2017 and has since had stints at Shrewsbury Town, Port Vale, Barnet, Macclesfield Town, Walsall, MK Dons and Fleetwood Town.
What next for Exeter City?
Exeter City finished the 2023/24 season in 13th place and will be eager to build on that.
They have already published their retained list and have announced that Gary Woods, Alex Hartridge, Harry Kite, Kyle Taylor, James Scott, Joe O’Connor and Harrison King have been released.
Meanwhile, Mo Eisa, Ryan Woods, Admiral Muskwe, Luke Harris, Dion Rankine and Viljami Sinisalo have all returned to their parent clubs following the end of their loans.
