Blackpool loan man Jordan Rhodes has admitted he is unsure where his future lies as he prepares to return to Huddersfield Town.

Blackpool landed the striker on a temporary basis last summer and he has since been a hit with the League One side.

Rhodes, 34, has scored 15 goals in 33 games for the Seasiders in all competitions this season.

When asked about what lies in store for him next, he told BBC Radio Lancashire (via Blackpool Gazette): “I don’t know where I’ll be playing next season; I’m just keeping myself in the best possible condition for the eventualities this year, and what happens afterwards is in the lap of the Gods. Whatever will be, will be.

“In the early part of my career it would’ve been more worrying, but when you get to this age, wherever your career takes you, you just roll with it.”

Huddersfield Town man on future

Rhodes is due to head back to Huddersfield Town when his loan deal at Blackpool expires.

His contract with the Terriers is up at the end of June and they have a big decision to make on what to do with him next.

The veteran moved back to the John Smith’s Stadium in 2021 and has since scored 10 goals in 64 matches for the Yorkshire club.

Huddersfield Town are currently sat in the relegation zone in the Championship and are fighting to survive.

Rhodes’ situation may well depend on what league they are in next term. He would probably be more likely to stay put if they went down as he is a proven goal scorer in the third tier.

The Oldham-born man has played for the likes of Ipswich Town, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City in the past and is a vastly experienced player in the Football League.

Blackpool’s focus right now is on sneaking into the play-offs and they kept their promotion hopes alive with their 3-2 win at home to Barnsley last time out.

They face an away trip to Reading on the final day this weekend and need to win and hope other results go their way if they are to sneak into the top six.
