Lincoln City are in talks over new contracts for Danny Mandriou, Teddy Bishop and Lewis Montsma, the club have confirmed.

Lincoln City have turned their attentions to putting summer plans into action after narrowly missing out on a place in the League One play-offs.

After an impressive rise up the table, the Imps suffered a final day defeat to Portsmouth that ultimately saw Barnsley and Oxford United secure top six finishes alongside Peterborough United and Bolton Wanderers.

The Imps will be looking to strengthen over the summer but before bringing in fresh faces, they’ll be clarifying the situations of those already on the books at Sincil Bank.

Now, Lincoln City have confirmed the fates of a handful with the announcement of their retained list.

The club have stated that talks over new contracts are ongoing with first-team trio Danny Mandriou, Teddy Bishop and Lewis Monstma. The latter remains on the road to recovery after an ACL injury but midfielders Mandriou and Bishop have both played prevalent roles.

25-year-old Mandriou notched eight goals and six assists in 36 games, while ex-Ipswich Town man Bishop chipped in with four goals and five assists across his 38 outings.

Futures with the Imps

While talks continue, you have to think all three players have futures at Lincoln City.

Mandriou has been an impressive performer since joining from Shamrock Rovers in 2022, offering a dangerous presence in attacking midfield. Bishop meanwhile is a reliable presence in the middle and his vast experience in the EFL helps him play a part as a leader too.

Montsma’s situation is a little different with the long-term injury. The Dutchman has had some tough times on the sidelines but at his best, he’s been a fantastic centre-back and a real asset for the Imps.

Nursing him back to fitness and tying him down to a new deal could be ideal, but time will tell just how the talks pan out.

With plans starting to be put into action though, Lincoln City will be hoping for a productive summer transfer window before they go again at the start of next season.
