Peterborough United striker Kabongo Tshimanga has returned from his loan spell at Boreham Wood, as announced by the non-league side.

Peterborough United let the attacker re-join the Hertfordshire outfit on the final day of the January transfer window.

Tshimanga, 26, has since scored seven goals in 16 games during the second-half of this season.

In this latest update regarding his situation, Boreham Wood have confirmed on their retained list that he has gone back to London Road following their relegation from the National League.

Peterborough United have a decision to make on what to do with Tshimanga ahead of the next campaign.

He joined the League One side on a permanent basis last year but hasn’t been able to hit the ground running with his parent club.

The forward was loaned out to fellow third tier outfit Fleetwood Town last year and scored two goals in 20 matches for the North West team before switching to Boreham Wood this past winter.

He rose up through the academy ranks at Milton Keynes Dons and played 13 times for their first-team as a youngster.

Tshimanga then had spells at Boston United, Oxford City and Boreham Wood and was a real hit with the latter during his first stint there, firing 41 goals in 88 games.

Chesterfield then snapped him up and he carried on his goal scoring exploits with the Spirerites, finding the net on 33 occasions in 53 outings to earn a switch to the Football League with Peterborough United.

However, his career has stalled a bit now and his situation is up in the air ahead of the upcoming window.

For the time being, the Posh are eyeing promotion to the Championship. They lost in the play-offs last year to eventual winners Sheffield Wednesday at the semi-final stage.

Ferguson’s men are hoping for better this time around and face Bolton Wanderers on the final day this weekend.
