Reading man joins non-league side on short-term loan deal

Reading striker Jahmari Clarke has made his second non-league loan switch of the campaign, joining National League South leaders Yeovil Town for the remainder of the season.

Reading have ultimately struggled for form in League One so far this season. After 38 games played, they sit in 18th place in the table, six points above the drop zone and a whopping 22 points off the top six.

Although the season is all but over for the Royals, and they cannot dip into the transfer market for reinforcements to help their cause, they can send some of their players further down the pecking order out on loan to sides who do have something to play for.

National League South side Yeovil Town are competing for the league title in non-league and have took full advantage of the loan market, signing Reading striker Clarke until the end of the campaign.

He has played a handful of games for his parent club in the first-team fold, he will be hoping to use his experience and eye for goal to boost Yeovil’s chances of getting promoted. He will be available for their game against Slough Town later today.

A good move for all parties

Clarke will be getting some valuable playing time out on loan. He was already shipped out to Boreham Wood earlier in the season but failed to make an impact. This move to Yeovil Town gives him another opportunity to show people what he can do.

Reading will also benefit from the move as Clarke will come back to the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the summer with more experience under his belt and all will be hoping he will return as a better and more confident player too.

Finally, Yeovil Town will be getting a player with bags of potential. The fact Clarke has been used in the first-team at Reading shows the faith the League One side have had in him. If the move goes well, he could have a view to more minutes in the senior side at his parent club.
