Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has said he would be interested in bringing Alex Revell to the New York Stadium.

Rotherham United are keen on luring the current interim Stevenage boss to South Yorkshire.

Revell, 40, played for the Millers during his career and has a decision to make on his future.

Evans has said, as per a report by the Rotherham Advertiser: “Since I’ve left, I haven’t spoken to Alex. When you leave a club, you must have the integrity to not communicate back to your old players and staff because they can get mixed messages. Would I see Alex Revell back on my staff at some time? If we had a position available and Alex was fancying it, absolutely.”

It would be a boost for Rotherham United if they were able to lure Revell away from Stevenage this summer.

He would be a useful member to bolster their backroom staff as they look to gain promotion from League One at the first time of asking.

They have a big few months ahead as Evans looks to put his own stamp on the squad in the next transfer.

Revell is someone who knows the club already and he was a hit during his playing days, scoring 34 goals in 170 games. He also had spells at Cambridge United, Leyton Orient, Cardiff City, Northampton Town, Wigan Athletic and Stevenage before he hung up his boots in 2020.

The ex-attacker delved into the coaching world with the latter and had a stint as their permanent manager initially.

He returned to Boro under Evans and helped them gain promotion from League Two last year. They have since been pushing for the play-offs after adapting well to the step up a division.

Stevenage risk losing Revell to Rotherham United next as Evans eyes a potential swoop.

In the meantime, they have one more fixture left to get through this term against Cheltenham Town at home this weekend. Their chances of getting into the top six are over.

As for the Millers, they are already relegated from the Championship and picked up a 0-0 draw against Birmingham City last time out. They have two matches left against Bristol City and Cardiff City.
